GATHER Veterans
A New Veterans Resource Magazine in Traverse City
A HERO is defined as “a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.”
Our local veterans and active military are heroes in every sense of the word. They deserve recognition and support for the sacrifices they made for our FREEDOM. They deserve a place to GATHER and connect with fellow military members, families and veterans.
In association with GATHER Media LLC, the Grand Traverse County Department of Veterans Affairs will now offer a resource in which local veterans, active military and their families will have access to a vital source of information focused on their specific needs. The publication, created and published by GATHER Media LLC, is called GATHER Veterans and its first issue will be released during the Veterans Day Dinner at the Traverse City Elks Lodge #323 on November 11, 2019 (Veterans Day).
“Since arriving at the GT County Department of Veterans Affairs office, I have wanted to publish a source of information to better educate and connect local veterans with their benefits earned via their years in service. When thinking about ways to get all of the necessary information out into our community without an additional cost to our office and taxpayers, I immediately thought that there may be a possible association with GATHER Media LLC, as they are a local company and focus on putting community first. We are looking for advertising partners to kick off this publication as well as continue for years to come,” says Michael Roof, Director of the Grand Traverse County Department of Veterans Affairs.
GATHER Veterans will have its first issue in November 2019 (deadline for sponsors is October 5, 2019) and then will run bi-monthly issues starting in January 2020.
GATHER Veterans will have 6 issues per year. Each issue will include:
– A Featured Veteran
– Veteran Owned Business Spotlights
– Veteran Resources
– VA Director Updates
– Veteran Benefit, Legislation and Healthcare updates
It will also include upcoming events, information about support groups, and other Veteran relevant content. In addition, there will be a Veteran Business Directory. It will be free to registered veterans. Any other interested parties can subscribe for $14.99 per year.

The Department of Veteran Affairs Office is located in the Grand Traverse County, but they assist veterans from the boarding counties of Antrim, Kalkaska, Leelanau, Wexford, Benzie, Missaukee and Manistee Counties and others that travel to Traverse City by way of employment. According to the VA’s GDX that is a representation of over 15,000 veterans just for this area alone.
